I am with you always

i am with you alwaysThe Resurrection of our Lord testifies His power over sin and death. It portrays the hope of eternal life through Him, magnifies his divinity and authority, promotes His Gospel, and clarifies that He is not ordinary. Jesus Said in Matthew 28:20 “ I am with you always, even to the end of the age ”. As believers what does this mean to us? Think about the state of disciples when Jesus was with them, they were fearless, brave, active, assertive and bold. Those were the times when the followers of Jesus Christ were ridiculed, mocked, threatened in the midst of a bad political climate. But even then they were the most daring people you could ever meet. They didn’t care about anything; they just followed Him, because they knew when Jesus is with them, they need not worry.

What happened to the same disciples when Jesus was taken by the Roman soldiers? They were scattered fearing that they might also be arrested; fear became their friend when the true friend Jesus was not with them. They were not the same as before. After Jesus died, though they were united they still were hiding with fear. But when they witnessed the resurrection of Jesus, a new hope broke forth in their hearts and they were able to be the same people when they were with Him before His death.

At the ascension of Jesus, the last words Jesus spoke were about the “Promise of the Father”, the Holy Spirit. It was after the special encounter with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, they received the power of Jesus in their lives. They became bold because they sensed that it was Jesus who is with them. They became bold soldiers for Jesus Christ and even went on to die as martyrs for Him.

There is a connection between the verse in Matthew 28:20 and John 4:16, which says “And I will pray to the father, and He will give you another helper, that He may abide with you forever”. The connection is that the actual presence of Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 28:20 is the actual presence of the Holy Spirit promised in 1 John 4:16 and manifested in Acts Chapter 2.

The disciples were not the same anymore. They came out of the ordinary fears of life, became life changers, suffered persecution, questioned the kings and authorities, and traveled new horizons to preach the Gospel.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, tells that He still lives with us as He promised. It is through the presence of the Holy Spirit we will be able to sense His strong presence in our lives and that realization alone can give us the strength to face our life’s challenges. In this time of celebrating Easter, can we honestly desire the Spirit of God to fill us in order to overcome the fears of this life and be a witness for Him wherever we go (Acts 1:8).

Because He Lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He Lives, All Fear is gone
Because I know, He holds my future
And Life is worth living just
Because He lives!!!
