Christmas is here, the season of celebration, the time of exchanging gifts with loved ones and people around us. We keep hearing the very old cliché – “Jesus is the reason for the season”. As believers in Christ, some of us still celebrate Christmas traditionally. We don’t realize the real reason for our celebration. Is Jesus really the reason for this season in our celebrations?
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave HIS only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” For some of us, everything may not be working out the way we wanted. You might be going through some difficult times today and you may ask why should I celebrate? But the truth is that Christmas is much more relevant for those in trouble!! For Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” (See Mark 2:17)
Because we sinned, Christ came into this world to save us; to give Light in the Darkness; and to give Hope for the Hopeless. He also came into this world to give Joy and Abundant Life(See John 10:10). Bible says, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved”. (See John 3:17)
As believers in Christ, are we sharing the love that God showed us in the first place? Are we sharing the Gospel to spread Hope? If so, then it would be the real celebration. Let us spend some time today to just think about what God did on Christmas day until you are left with no choice but to worship Him for that. What is your Christmas today?
