“You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
Keeping your mind from wandering is one of the trickiest things. When we are in an office status call, classroom session, during prayer, or sermon, our minds tend to go for a walk. In short, when the body is at rest the mind is not. People say the biggest battle we face is inside our minds. That’s where the enemy drops in the false thoughts as seeds. And when we don’t discern a false thought, for lack of fellowship with God, we munch on it, water it and make it grow until it’s a full-blown problem, becoming a habit and eventually an addiction. The enemy doesn’t usually confront us head-on but he does it in the back of our heads literally and that’s why Paul says, to wear Salvation as our helmet (Ephesians 6:17). In essence, knowing Salvation is putting our trust in Christ and reminding ourselves that He salvaged us by His blood and that we are free from our Sins, which were dealt with on the Cross some 2000 years ago. Once upon a time, I used to think whether am really saved, how God sees me, whether am I acceptable in His sight. But don’t take such thoughts for a second, for if God is not satisfied or thinks we could never be redeemed, He would have never died for us. Instead, the Bible says “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8) which resoundingly states that He knew beforehand that whoever believes in Him and accept Him as their Saviour are saved for eternity and the wicked one cannot snatch them out of His hands. That’s why our Lord was confident to lay down His life once He dealt with all the Sins of the world on the cross and was able to say “It is finished” (John 19:30). Whatever condemnation, doubt or wicked thoughts coming in your head are not true. So don’t take them but just confess that you are God’s child and you are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Because He who knew no Sin became Sin for us and the same way we who knew no righteous thoughts or did no righteous acts become the Righteous in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). We don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against Principalities and powers of darkness which wage war against us (Ephesians 6:12). God equips us with weapons to bring down all strongholds, casting down arguments that exalt itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4,5). These strongholds are not tangible instead are the ones that the wicked one builds up in our minds. And we have the Word of God and His shed blood as our weapons to bring these strongholds down. So let us be on guard and break down any thoughts that the evil one may whisper in our ears and instil fear in us. Let us not heed to the worldly advice or fear, rather carefully discern and not allow any thoughts to clog our minds and bring them all to the obedience of Christ. And when we do so, we could enjoy the perfect peace that He promised for all whose mind is stayed on Him!!
Mind to keep your mind stay on Christ!!
