“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33.
Sometimes I think this verse is about letting go. Letting go of all the earthly security we’ve built up for ourselves and realizing that is not what we depend on. Our hearts can get so heavy and we don’t know what to do with our lives, what to do when we get up every morning. We have so many unanswered questions and so much confusion in our heads. What is going to become of us? How should we live our lives? What can we do, anyway? How are we going to go from one day to the next? Be still. Maybe you don’t even know what to say to God anymore. You’ve prayed out your prayers and talked out your feelings and there’s nothing more to say. You don’t even know what to pray for. God’s will be done. This verse allows you to take your eyes off all your burdens and worries. Look to God and do not be afraid. He is the one who is the center of your life and He is the one from whom all good things come. You may not see today how you can make the kingdom of God your primary concern in the great scope of your whole life. But you can take it one day at a time. Make the kingdom of God your primary concern today. Trust Him to give you what you need. Each day, commit your life to God and His kingdom. He will show you the way. When things seem so terribly complicated, realize that you’re not the one who has to deal with all the problems of the world or even of your life. Take the time to see the tasks that He’s prepared for you this day and leave the rest to Him. It is a gift to be allowed to live in this confidence and simplicity.
