“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33.
Sometimes I think this verse is about letting go. Letting go of all the earthly security we’ve built up for ourselves and realising that is not what we depend on. Sometimes, our hearts can get so heavy and we don’t know what to do with our lives, what to do when we get up every morning. We have so many unanswered questions and so much confusion in our heads. What is going to become of us? How should we live our lives? What can we do, anyway? How are we going to go from one day to the next? Maybe we don’t even know what to say to God anymore. We’ve prayed out our prayers and talked out our feelings and there’s nothing more to say. We don’t even know what to pray for. This verse allows us to take our eyes off all our burdens and worries. He is the one who is the centre of our lives and He is the one from whom all good things come. You may not see today how you can make the kingdom of God your primary focus in the great scope of your whole life. But you can take it one day at a time. Let the kingdom of God be your primary concern today. Trust Him to give you what you need. Each day, commit your life to God and His kingdom. He will show you the way. When things seem so terribly complicated, realise that you’re not the one who has to deal with all the problems of the world or even of your life. Take time to see the tasks that He’s prepared for you this day and leave the rest to Him. It is a gift to be allowed to live in this confidence and simplicity.
